She’s getting to be so BIG!

It’s official, Savannah is big for her age. She had her 4 month check up on Wednesday the 17th. She measured at 26″ (that puts her into the 95th percentile for height) and weighed 14 lbs 6 oz (that puts her into the 75th percentile for weight). We had an idea that she was big for her age when we saw other kids that weren’t much bigger than her standing on their own or eating food. The Doctor said that she’s ahead in her development too. :)

Since she’s showing such an interest in our food. The doctor gave us the okay to start feeding her baby cereal. She had her first taste of rice cereal tonight! She was unsure of the taste, but didn’t seem to dislike it. Half of learning to eat solid food is learning how to eat from a spoon. ;-) I think it was pretty successful for a first try. We’ll try some more tomorrow night!

Big Milestone for Savannah!

Savannah decided yesterday with just the audience of her big brother to roll over! She has been rolling from her back to her side a bunch since we got back but yesterday she finished the roll onto her belly. Then she, of course, got upset that she was stuck on her tummy! She’s only done it the once so far, but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before she’s rolling across the floor. She already wiggles herself around in circles. I had to move all the toys out of her crib because she ends up nothing like I put her down when she wakes up. She spins in little circles she creates from her rolling to her side and then her back. She’s a squirmy worm! We have a check up on the 17th. I’ll let you know how big she’s gotten after the appointment.

Getting Back to Life in South Dakota

We’re getting things back to normal here after the holidays. It was great being back in Georgia for the holidays and getting to see all we had a chance to see! Savannah enjoyed all the attention and is now wondering why there’s not new people holding her everyday! :)
It was an “interesting” journey home. We felt like we could have made a National Lampoon movie out of our trip, between all the luggage, the weather and the fun that comes with traveling with two dogs and a hamster! It took an extra night in the hotel to let the bad weather pass and we spent our New Year’s Eve at a Drury Inn in St. Joseph, Missouri. Seeing all the wrecked and abandoned cars on the sides of the highway the next day told us we made the right decision.

Andruw started his hockey up again last night. He gets better everytime he gets on the ice! We have an hour of practice on Mondays and a two hour game session on Saturdays. Hockey season lasts until the end of February, then we have to wait until November to start again. That will settle our schedule down a little bit, but I’m sure we’ll find another activity to take it’s place. He’s working on finishing his Pine Wood Derby car for the big race on the 28th! I’ll make sure that we put up pictures of the car when it’s finished and of the big race!
